Ferrero & Rafaello Donuts

Process

  1. Sift dry ingredients into a mixing bowl or stand mixture bowl.
  2. Mix the wet ingredients, including the soft butter in a seperate bowl and leave to stand for 10 minutes.
  3. Combine and knead for 10 minutes.
  4. Oil the inside of the mixing bowl and leave the dough covered for 90 minutes until well-risen (about doubled in size).
  5. Roll out into a 1,5 cm thickness.
  6. Cut out shapes and leave to rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Fry in oil until light golden brown.
  8. Once cool, fill with whipped cream.
  9. Decorate with melted white and milk chocolate and Ferrero and Rafaello chocolates.

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp full cream plain yogurt
  • 10g instant yeast
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 3 1/2 cups cake or all-purpose flour
  • 4 tbsp milk powder
  • 40g soft butter
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp sour milk (amasi in South Africa) – substitute with sour cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • Oil for frying
